Responsibilities
- Communicates with pharmacists, nurses, patients, physicians, and other ancillary personnel.
- Solves problems within scope of technician responsibilities and refers complex issues to pharmacists.
- Supports pharmacy personnel by running fill lists, filling patients' cassettes, delivering and exchanging cassettes, and filling and exchanging stock medication trays.
- Restocks UD pick bins in dispensing areas, runs IV labels, fills IVS, and delivers IVS.
- Processes charges and enters data into the computer, files billing, pulls discharges, enters patients' orders, checks stock, and reorders.
- Prints and distributes MARs, enters TCU/SNF charges from the fill list and narcotic sheets, and answers phones and requests at the door.
- Collaborates with management to coordinate the training of all new pharmacy technicians.
Requirements
- No more than 2 written substantiated complaints representing a breach of policy, procedure, or professional behavior since last evaluation.
- Follows established hospital and department policies.
- Maintains confidentiality as related to job responsibilities.
- Exhibits willingness to resolve problems as they arise.
- Projects a positive professional image through appearance and behavior.
- Attends 75% of staff meetings or reads and initials minutes.
- Completes assigned work within shift.
Qualifications
- High school graduate and graduate of a pharmacy technician course.
- At least 2 years of acute care experience.
- Pharmacy tech certificate by the CA Board of Pharmacy.
- BLS certification.
