Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Tote system data entry and verification.
- Preparation of reports/paperwork for the racetrack and/or corporate office.
- Aid in the shipping, loading or unloading of company equipment and/or supplies.
- Labeling, packaging, shipping and re-ordering of spare parts.
- Assist in the training of new employees and Line Technicians.
- Maintain, operate, setup or troubleshoot tote boards and auxiliary odds boards.
- Operation of the communications equipment used at the racetrack.
- Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of United Tote equipment.
- Equipment installation and tear down.
- Stocking of ticket paper on betting lines.
- Unloading of ticket stock from freight trucks.
- Perform minor repairs on terminal components, test components, correctly package components for shipment and order replacement components.
- Develop wiring and soldering skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of pari-mutuel wagering and United Tote’s role at the racetrack.
- Ability to interact with association personnel professionally and efficiently.
- Knowledge of Tote room hardware configurations, including modems, multiplexers, consoles, display controllers, and printers.
- Familiarity with Tote Board installation and operation.
- Understanding of system reports and their contents.
- Knowledge of price calculations and familiarity with state rules and regulations.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Line technician experience and electrical/computer experience preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Age requirement: Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
- Licenses: Able to be licensed by the state racing commission.
- Work schedule: Flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel: Some travel may be required.
- Physical demands: Regularly sit, use hands, reach, talk, hear, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Environment: Moderate to loud noise levels due to office, data center, airport, plane, crowd, and facility environments.
- Position requirements: Licensed by the proper racing and gaming authorities within the region.
