About the role

Southwire Company, LLC is one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers, and we are seeking a Level I Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing operations by providing corrective and preventive maintenance activity with a focus on improving equipment reliability and maintainability.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunction using logical and systematic methodologies.
  • Complete routine preventive tasks such as cleaning, inspection and minor service or overhaul.
  • Replace identified parts or components that have failed.
  • Adjust equipment to bring it into operational specifications.
  • Maintain machinery lubrication requirements.
  • Recommend process or procedure changes based on observed equipment behavior.
  • Maintain current and accurate maintenance data to determine establish historical records and future maintenance requirements.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong Mechanical or Electrical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with normal shop equipment such as drill press, band saw and portable power tools.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to advance skill proficiencies through assigned training.

A 2-year Technical Degree is desired, and a minimum of 1 year of industrial manufacturing or comparable skills demonstration is required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will maintain an attitude of learning to stay current with maintenance procedures and equipment, and will complete an annual Maintenance Skills Assessment and perform assigned training activities based on assessment results.

Safety

The candidate must report all accidents, incidents, injuries and unsafe acts or conditions immediately to the supervisor, and follow prescribed safety procedures to prevent injury and maintain safe equipment and conditions in the entire plant.

Physical/Environmental Demands

The candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of working safely in an industrial maintenance environment, and follow all company environmental rules/procedures to minimize environmental impact.
