Location: Odessa, TX (RDA) – Welding equipment rental

About the role

Under the direction of the Branch Manager, the technician repairs, refurbishes, and maintains engine-driven welding equipment and generators while contributing to a safe and supportive working environment. You will restore and maintain all Electric and Engine Drives to ensure peak performance, assemble electric, diesel, gas, and propane equipment for rental, and ensure precision and reliability through testing and calibration. The role includes repainting parts, touching up paint, and applying decals to maintain a professional appearance. You will also identify and update parts, complete preventative maintenance, coordinate parts ordering, inspect returned equipment, and prepare documentation for all machine repairs. Occasionally, you will provide on-site service to support equipment and customers, foster open communication with branch personnel, and support field operations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture of safety by following Airgas/Red-D-Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
  • Restore and maintain all Electric and Engine Drives to ensure peak performance.
  • Collaborate to assemble electric, diesel, gas, and propane equipment for rental.
  • Ensure precision and reliability through testing and calibration of machines.
  • Repaint parts, touch up paint, and apply decals to welders to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Identify and update parts while completing essential preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinate parts ordering to ensure efficient repairs.
  • Inspect returned equipment to ensure proper operation and identify necessary care.
  • Use a forklift, pallet jack, or other equipment to organize required parts in the shop.
  • Foster a clean and organized work environment.
  • Prepare and complete documentation for all machine repairs.
  • Occasionally provide on-site service to support equipment and customers.
  • Nurture open communication with all branch personnel.
  • Occasionally assist customers in understanding the most effective equipment for their projects.
  • Support field operations as needed to reach shared business goals.
  • Perform other related duties as a collaborative team member.

Major Activities

  • Use load bank for Electric Welding Equipment.
  • Complete setups (Stick, MIG, TIG).
  • Identify and test electronic components.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment using service manuals.
  • Perform pre-power testing.
  • Install electronic components and conduct final testing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 2-4 years of related technical experience.
  • Valid Driver License and good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education equivalent to a one-year Technical College or equivalent is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of power generating and welding equipment is a plus.
  • Thoroughness and care in technical tasks, paired with solid organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive with trusted autonomy while staying connected to team goals.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
