Level II Technician

About the Role

A Level II Technician performs all aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) planned and unplanned maintenance service on LP or electric equipment. The individual must be an expert in one of the two (LP or electrical) and self-sufficient on all repairs associated with this equipment. This position requires knowledge of mechanics, hand tools, and basic automotive experience, along with computer proficiency, strong communication skills, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform forklift (LP and electrical) Preventative Maintenance services, including:
  • Fluid changes (engine oil, transmission fluid, differential gear lube, and hydraulic fluid)
  • Filter replacements (air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, and ATF filter)
  • Tune-ups (adjust valves, replace spark plugs and spark plug wires)
  • Brake and riser adjustments
  • Inspect and repack wheel bearings
  • Inspect and water forklift batteries on a defined schedule
  • Battery removal, repairs, and installations
  • Equipment paint touch-ups as required
  • Attachment pad rotations
  • Part replacements (horns, lights, tires, etc.)
• Basic overheating troubleshooting and repair
• Steering troubleshooting and repair
• Meet a minimum of 30 completed PM services per month
• Maintain a minimum productivity level of 80–90%

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience troubleshooting electric or LP equipment
• Experience in basic repairs of electric or LP equipment
• Experience in attachment repairs
• Basic knowledge of electrical, LP, hydraulic systems, and DVOM
• Basic wiring schematic reading experience
• Ability to read and follow service manual instructions
• Strong customer service skills
• Must provide own hand tools
• Proficiency in computer applications using MS Office
• Post-high school or technical school education desirable but not required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction
• Ability to work outside in inclement weather conditions
• Ability to work in environments with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction
• Ability to stand or lie down for extended periods to repair equipment
• Flexible movement to reach equipment and/or parts and maneuver equipment
• Willingness to travel at various times
