Technician, Lead Behavior Modification

About the role

The Lead Behavior Modification Technician performs support work with minimal decision-making discretion, providing behavioral support and professional development to school staff. This position conducts district-wide training, offers extra support to schools, and observes the application of behavior management techniques to provide feedback. Additionally, the role provides guidance, support, and training to Behavior Modification Technicians (BMTs) and other behavioral support staff while carrying out Board of Education policies under the direction of the principal.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement a behavioral program designed to make positive and appropriate changes.
  • Lead school-based BMTs and support staff through training, delegating and reviewing work, coordinating schedules, and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Assist schools with the development, coordination, and implementation of behavior management programs and strategies.
  • Maintain a database of programmatic data for use in reporting.
  • Follow up on possible referrals by contacting school-based staff, parents, and community agencies to attain additional information.
  • Collaborate with schools to assist with implementing research-based alternatives to suspension.
  • Observe and document behaviors of designated students; maintain an accurate log of progress, relative behavior, and social skills development.
  • Work cooperatively with district staff and community agencies in accessing resources for students and their parents.
  • Assess crisis situations and defuse them using appropriate conflict resolution and crisis management techniques.
  • Address the needs of students appropriately and in accordance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Develop and deliver presentations and training.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and attend other related meetings as needed or required.
  • Create an inclusive environment with positive communication and public relations.
  • Perform related work as assigned or required.
