Technician III - Met Lab

Responsibilities

• Prepares samples for analysis/examination and carries out a diversified range of complex metallurgical services.
• Has thorough knowledge of specific testing areas and can complete all testing with no supervision.
• Performs various mechanical tests on specialized equipment, such as hardness testing, tension, tensile, resistivity, etc.
• Performs various metallographic and magnetic tests using etchants, polishing equipment and specialized metallographic equipment.
• Collects and records test data obtained during the evaluation.
• Makes recommendations to supervision based on recorded test data.
• Directs, trains and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Met Lab within the specific testing area.
• Develops knowledge of testing procedures in other areas and may be able to complete testing in these areas.
• Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.
• This position can be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetics Testing, or Heat Treating.

Requirements

• High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management.
• Three or more years of relevant experience.
