Technician II - Structured Cabling
About the role
The Technician II - Structured Cabling is responsible for performing technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and leading a team of installers. They coordinate small groups of installers in the performance of daily workload, adhering to company safety and quality standards. They also manage projects, ensuring accurate paperwork and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Install work area outlets and mount face plates and surface mount boxes.
- Build and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.
- Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
- Complete IDC connections, including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
- Perform testing: continuity tests on horizontal and riser cable, using a volt-ohmmeter, troubleshoot circuit issues.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Assume responsibility for crew performance, providing necessary training and coordinating timelines.
- Accurately and timely complete IES Communications paperwork (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers).
- Adhere to and participate in all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Self-motivated, positive approach, professional demeanor.
- Ability to work at heights, on ladders, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
- Long periods of standing, walking, or working in inclement weather.
- See and distinguish different colors, read small print, hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
- Able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
- Maintain regular attendance.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
- Proficient with listed tools.
- Proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents.
- Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
- Meet Company minimum driving standards.
Qualifications

Pay
Min USD $28.00/Hr. Max USD $34.00/Hr.
Schedule
Regular hours, with occasional overtime as needed.
