Technician II- MHI1000A

About the role

As a Technician II, you will help perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbines. You will interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports and service logs in computer databases, and monitor turbine performance. The role involves working independently on many electrical and mechanical components and leading the Lock Out Tag Out program.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems troubleshooting and repairs on-site.
• Complete all relevant paperwork, including work order cards, checklists, and AWPs.
• Recognize and report wind turbine error codes.
• Replace major turbine components such as generators and gearboxes.
• Assist with high-voltage system maintenance and repair.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on wind turbines, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
• Demonstrate the ability to learn advanced troubleshooting and repair of wind turbines.
• Establish and maintain general safety from the system / Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
• Free climb 300 ft multiple times a day while wearing 25+ lbs. of climbing gear.
• Work in extreme weather conditions.
• Rescue teammates anywhere in the tower in the event of an emergency.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (an associate degree is a bonus but not required).
• 1+ years’ experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
• Valid driver’s license (NON-CDL or CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, given proper instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.
• Must pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening.
• Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus for work in close confines.
• Physically fit to free climb 300 ft multiple times a day while wearing 25+ lbs. of climbing gear.
• Must not exceed a maximum personal body weight of 260 lbs due to safety requirements for climbing wind turbines.
