Technician II (2nd Shift)
Brief Description
The Technician II is an experienced technical professional responsible for performing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of equipment, systems, or technology within their assigned area. This role works with minimal supervision, resolves moderately complex technical issues, and may provide guidance or support to junior technicians. The Technician II ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established standards, procedures, and regulations, while contributing to continuous improvement of operations and service quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Troubleshoot and determine causes of operating errors, including watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Control machine and processes using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
- Operate cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment.
- Conduct set-ups on Inserting and Bindery equipment.
- Repair machines or systems using the necessary tools.
- Exhibit a sense of urgency and consistently meet production goals that are set by the Production Supervisor daily.
- Consistently crosscheck quality of jobs against insert or inkjet sample and job tickets.
- Participate actively in the continuous improvement process for quality control, productivity, and operating procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Consistent and Reliable attendance is mandatory.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently and as a team member.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork skills.
- Must be flexible to schedule changes as dictated by business needs.
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- 2 to 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience troubleshooting production equipment and automated machinery.
- Experience with direct mail, printing, packaging, bindery, mailing, or fulfillment equipment is preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
