Responsibilities
- Conducts experiments and technical procedures.
- Affords assistance in planning and supervising technical operations.
- Makes and records observations and measurements.
- Uses computer for controlling equipment and compiling data.
- May supervise the care of research animals.
- Performs specialized tests and procedures using complex equipment.
- Uses computer for equipment/reagent and literature searches.
- Collaborates with lab personnel/collaborators involved in the research projects.
- Keeps detailed records of observations, measurements, and data.
- Mines, organizes, and documents publicly available and/or project-specific datasets relevant to ongoing research projects.
- Affords assistance with data extraction, cleaning, quality checks, basic statistical analyses, and preparation of summary tables, figures, and research outputs.
- Prepares laboratory reagents/solutions and monitors/maintains laboratory equipment to ensure continued usable function.
- Collaborates with lab personnel/collaborators involved in the research projects.
- Coordinates experiment schedules with lab personnel/collaborators involved in the research projects.
- Performs general laboratory cleaning including benches and glassware.
- Maintains laboratory inventories and places laboratory orders.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to perform experiments on animals.
- Bachelor’s degree in science field.
Skills
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
- Attention to detail.
