Technician, General Facilities Maintenance
About the Role
Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities equipment or fixtures. Manages repairs, work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors while demonstrating expertise in multiple craft skills and compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance by following established schedules and guidelines, inspecting, cleaning, and repairing facilities equipment or fixtures.
- Observe and document signs of wear and tear, gather capital expense information, recommend repair needs, and determine replacement needs.
- Perform major and minor repairs on facilities equipment or fixtures using skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, and food equipment.
- Inspect, operate, or test equipment to diagnose issues, dismantle machines to access defective parts, and utilize blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs.
- Use hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment to complete repairs and provide prompt response to emergency calls.
- Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing required written and electronic documentation (e.g., expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs).
- Conduct price comparisons for parts and travel-related costs, order parts and replacement equipment, track orders, record purchases and usage, and submit warranty claims.
- Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure quality work complies with federal, state, and local regulations and that contractors meet Walmart quality standards and safety requirements.
- Identify and report deficiencies, unload and store equipment, and transport equipment between facilities.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to others, support business solutions, and align efforts to meet customer and business needs.
- Model compliance with company policies and procedures, incorporating Walmart’s mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity into business plans.

Requirements
- Vocational or Technical certification and 3 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related trade or 5 years' experience in one of these trades.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program.
- License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
- Intermediate proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Pay
The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00. The actual hourly rate will meet or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may apply in specific circumstances, ranging from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour, based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
