Primary Responsibilities
- Maintains, appears, and ensures safety of floor surfaces throughout a facility.
- Performs ad hoc, scheduled, and project-based floor care duties using advanced equipment and techniques.
- Partners with clinical and facilities teams to minimize disruption, ensure proper signage, and maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe environment.
- Operates specialized floor care equipment such as auto-scrubbers, high-speed burnishers, buffers, and carpet extractors.
- Strips, waxes, polishes, and performs deep cleaning on various flooring types.
- Develops and executes daily and rotational floor maintenance schedules.
- Collaborates with Environmental Services (EVS) and clinical teams to reduce service disruption and ensure safety.
- Supports equipment maintenance, conducts basic floor repairs, and reports issues requiring advanced repair or attention.
- Ensures all work adheres to safety, signage, and infection prevention protocols.
- Aids in setting up safety zones and communicates work impacts to relevant departments.
- Collaborates with EVS team members to align schedules and prevent service delays.
Requirements
- No prior experience required, but must pass competency assessment within 2 months of hire.
- Requires an Indiana driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- Must be able to pass a floor care competency assessment.
- Must be able to operate floor care equipment, including auto-scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment and clothing in accordance with hospital policy and regulations.
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, reaching, bending, squatting, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Preferred
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 2-3 years of floor care experience.
