Technician, Facility Services, Low Voltage-Licensed

About the role

You will set up, install, configure, and support low voltage systems, including security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/visual systems, and network cabling.

Responsibilities

• Run, terminate, label, and test cabling in accordance with project requirements, technical specifications, and industry standards.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and functional testing to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system faults, outages, and performance issues to minimize downtime.
• Repair or replace damaged components and restore systems to optimal operating condition.
• Evaluate existing systems to identify opportunities for upgrades, enhancements, or compliance with new standards.
• Perform system upgrades to improve performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities; generate reports related to system performance, issues resolved, and maintenance activities.
• Provide technical support and training to end users on the proper operation and basic maintenance of low voltage systems.
• Address customer and stakeholder inquiries and concerns professionally, accurately, and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
• Work collaboratively with other technicians, engineers, project managers, and business partners to ensure timely and high-quality project completion.
• Lead and participate in teams by sharing resources, information, and tools; coordinate work assignments; provide feedback; and support work quality and timelines.
• Develop, communicate, and implement processes and practices to meet business needs by analyzing information from multiple sources and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Safely operate a motor vehicle in accordance with all traffic laws, company safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain assigned vehicles in excellent mechanical condition by performing basic preventive maintenance and ensuring vehicle cleanliness.
• Conduct routine vehicle safety checks, including fuel and fluid levels, brakes, lights, turn signals, and other operational systems.
• Ensure vehicles have all required documentation for lawful operation and verify the validity of vehicle insurance coverage.
• Coordinate and transport vehicles for required maintenance or inspections, ensuring alternate driving support is arranged in advance when needed.
• Submit vehicle maintenance and repair invoices timely for payment while maintaining assigned schedules and driving quality standards.
• Follow all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment; wear company-issued uniform and badge according to company policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate, promote, and support compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
• Model compliance with company policies and support the company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
• Build relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identify business needs; determine and carry out necessary processes and practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Hold and maintain jurisdiction-required certification and license for the state/jurisdiction of work (reciprocal license may apply and licensing requirements vary by state).
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with:
  • No DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five (5) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations within the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle within the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, within the last three (3) years.
• Ability to successfully complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and obtain medical certification valid for at least one (1) year.
• Ability to read and speak in the English language, as required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Option 1: 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related technical trade.
• Option 2: 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $33.00 - $63.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
