Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration
About the role
Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues. Implement preventive maintenance programs and lead field teams.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Calibrate low ambient systems and direct digital controls
- Interpret layout plans and schematics
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues
- Perform routine checks and identify issues
- Coordinate necessary maintenance or repairs
- Maintain and repair rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units
- Ensure proper operation of HVAC systems and Energy Management Systems
- Conduct inspections and repairs in compliance with HVAC/R regulations
- Reclaim ozone-depleting refrigerants and document refrigerant usage
- Lead field teams and mentor less-experienced technicians and apprentices
- Communicate with customers about technical issues and service outcomes
- Manage escalated service issues and coordinate with external service providers
- Manage workload using digital tools and scheduling systems
- Track refrigerant levels, parts inventory, and vendor relationships
- Submit warranty claims, expense reports, and work orders
- Complete work assignments following directions from managers and training technicians
- Participate in on-call rotations to support business critical needs
- Drive company vehicles to complete service calls and manage operational needs
- Collaborate with management, co-workers, customers, and business partners
- Work or train at multiple facilities or distant locations
- Maintain company vehicles according to company policies
- Support management with vehicle maintenance and insurance verification
- Lead and participate in teams by sharing resources, information, and tools
- Develop, communicate, and implement processes to meet business needs
- Model and help others adapt to change or new challenges

Qualifications
- Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls
- 4 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field
- Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling
- Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years
Skills
- Proficiency in HVAC/R policies, data, and resources
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment

Pay
$29.00 - $58.00 per hour*
Schedule
Flexible schedule to accommodate service calls and operational needs within an assigned region. Participates in an on-call rotation to support business critical needs outside of standard business hours.
