About the role

Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, cleans, and repairs facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Observes and documents signs of wear and tear.
  • Gathers capital expense information and recommends repair needs to eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
  • Determines replacement needs and documents preventive maintenance activities.
  • Uses heavy machinery and manages work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing required written and electronic information (e.g., expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs).
  • Conducts price comparisons of parts and travel-related costs, orders parts and replacement equipment, and tracks orders.
  • Records purchases and usage, and submits warranty claims.
  • Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensures quality work complies with federal, state, and local regulations and that contractors follow Walmart quality standards, safety requirements, and contract requirements.
  • Identifies and reports deficiencies.
  • Unloads and stores equipment, and transports equipment between facilities.
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting the company’s mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Uses the Open Door Policy.
  • Maintains company vehicles in accordance with company policies, coordinates and transports vehicles for required maintenance, and ensures alternate driving support is arranged.
  • Safely operates motor vehicles, checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights, and submits maintenance invoices for payment.
  • Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance.
  • Wears company uniform and badge in accordance with company policies.
  • Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required.
  • Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools; determining customer needs and business priorities; coordinating and executing work assignments; providing advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved.
  • Develops, communicates, and implements processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; analyzing and applying information from multiple sources; monitoring progress and results; and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • OR 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, or OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • License in related trade in city and/or state where job is located.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances, based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed.
