About the role
Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Inspects, cleans, and repairs facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
- Observes and documents signs of wear and tear.
- Gathers capital expense information and recommends repair needs to eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
- Determines replacement needs and documents preventive maintenance activities.
- Uses heavy machinery and manages work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing required written and electronic information (e.g., expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs).
- Conducts price comparisons of parts and travel-related costs, orders parts and replacement equipment, and tracks orders.
- Records purchases and usage, and submits warranty claims.
- Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines.
- Ensures quality work complies with federal, state, and local regulations and that contractors follow Walmart quality standards and safety requirements.
- Identifies and reports deficiencies in contractor work.
- Unloads and stores equipment, and transports equipment between facilities.
- Maintains company vehicles in accordance with policies, coordinates and transports vehicles for maintenance, and ensures alternate driving support is arranged.
- Safely operates motor vehicles, checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights, and submits maintenance invoices for payment.
- Verifies coverage and validity of vehicle insurance and wears company uniform and badge as required.
- Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment) in accordance with training, certification, and safety procedures.
- Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment safety and compliance.
- Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards and takes corrective action or escalates as required.
- Leads and participates in teams by sharing resources, determining customer needs, coordinating work assignments, and providing feedback.
- Develops and implements processes to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, co-workers, and customers.
- Demonstrates and promotes compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Requirements
- Vocational or technical certification and 2 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area OR 4 years' experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, or OUI within the last five (5) years.
- No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a 2-year vocational or technical trade program.
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- License in related trade in city and/or state where job is located.
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Pay
The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances (e.g., based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed). Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
