Join Walmart as a General Facilities Maintenance Technician and play a key role in maintaining the operational integrity and efficiency of food equipment in our stores. This position involves routine maintenance tasks to ensure safety, functionality, and aesthetics of Walmart facilities, equipment, and fixtures.

About the Role

Operating under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager, you will adhere to established maintenance schedules and guidelines, conducting inspections, cleaning, and repairing facilities, equipment, or fixtures. This role is essential for reducing maintenance expenses, ensuring equipment safety, and enhancing customer satisfaction through effective preventative maintenance and timely repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets using multiple craft skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and hand/power tools.
  • Utilize the work order management system to receive and document reactive repair work orders supporting stores and associates.
  • Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
  • Develop and adhere to preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Train Store Associates on equipment care, cleaning, and proper use to reduce misuse and damage.
  • Manage and complete work orders and maintenance logs accurately and timely.
  • Maintain clear, transparent, and respectful communication with team members and store associates.

Equipment Serviced

  • Food Equipment: Combi ovens, deli slicers, auto meat cutters, fryers, hot cases, ice makers, pizza ovens, rotisserie ovens, thermoglazers, donut cases, four bowl warmers, bakery ovens, bread slicers, tortilla makers.
  • Grease and Oil Systems: Oil/water separators, used cooking oil tanks.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Comfortable moving up and down ladders and working at heights frequently.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to work in various temperatures.
  • Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Vocational or technical certification and 2 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $31.00 - $61.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances, based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed.
