Position Summary
What you'll do...
Responsible for the operation of a department.
Performs additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.
Demonstrates, promotes, and supports compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
Uses the Open Door Policy.
Assists management with correcting ethical and compliance issues and problems.
Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines by performing work according to practices and procedures outlined in the Walmart Exterior Service guidance, safety policy, and environmental guidelines.
Controls company costs by conducting price comparisons of parts, equipment, and travel-related costs.
Submits warranty claims.
Completes and submits forms (for example, expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders) to Regional Managers and Home Office associates.
Leads third-party providers
Fosters a climate for professional growth and development.
Counsels and conducts performance evaluations.
Develops and directs quality assurance inspections.
Troubleshoots and provides customer service
Communicates with facility users to ensure meeting of event needs.
Assesses and resolves customer problems and complaints.
Maintains a clean, safe, and healthy work environment
Evaluates current and future replacement needs (for example, mulch, rock, trees, shrubs, sod replacement).
Implements upgrades to convert the facility into a sustainable unit.
Explores potential improvements to lower operating costs.
Sources tool and equipment purchases to perform repairs.
Coordinates with Home Office support
Standardizes equipment and reduces on-hand stock.
Performs seasonal exterior maintenance activities
- Operates snow removal equipment
- Applies de-icing materials
- Clears walkways, drives, and exterior areas
- Supports winter preparedness and response activities
Maintains vehicles
- Conducts pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections
- Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards
- Ensures vehicles are in working mechanical and cleanliness condition
- Coordinates and takes vehicles for required maintenance
- Submits maintenance invoices for payment
- Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance
Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment
- Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections
- Identifies unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards
- Takes appropriate corrective action or escalates as required
Complies with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity
- Implements related action plans
- Uses the Open Door Policy
- Applies these in executing business processes and practices

Minimum Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older
- Valid state-issued driver’s license
- No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years
- No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle
- No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle
- No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle
- Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre-hire
- Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency and be able to maintain a minimum of a 90 day Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC) card
- Able to read and speak in the English language
Preferred Qualifications

- Achieved Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area
- Experience in third-party management
- Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish
- State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California, etc)
