Basic Job Functions

Assists in the installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment. Reviews process and equipment data on dashboards and determines corrective action as needed. Troubleshoots day-to-day manufacturing process and equipment issues. Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance and repairs of the equipment in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Identifies and/or implements system improvements that contribute to the achievement of throughput, yield and product performance goals.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Candidates must meet ONE of the following criteria to qualify:
  • One or more years experience as a First Solar Production Operator/Production Technician/Coater Technician.
  • Two or more years external experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
• Hands-on electrical/mechanical troubleshooting experience strongly preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

• Solves day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems under the supervision of experienced technicians, supervisors and engineers.
• Performs the on-site service and repair of equipment.
• Identifies and implements yield and product performance improvements.
• Accomplishes daily assignments as scheduled and as directed; work assignment will rotate between different buildings in a workweek.
• Develops methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Sets up and maintains gauges.
• Ensures all processes are running on target as defined by the Process Control Plan.
• Responds to SPC process control alarms, bringing processes back into control.
• Executes planned process experiments, collects and analyzes data and reports experimental results.
• Collects data relating to daily tool performance and associated product performance.
• Transitions new equipment and processes through start-up, qualification, and implementation.
• May provide training to production associates once a certain level of proficiency is reached.
• Develops and updates internal documentation including drawings, standard operating procedures, and process specifications.
• Interfaces with internal associates and supplier representatives, as required, to complete assigned projects.
• Develops a complete understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
• Maintains effective communication with other members of the manufacturing team.
• Dispositions non-conforming product according to established criteria (NCP).
• Adheres to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
• Ensures waste materials are discarded in their designated containers.
• Ensures hazardous waste containers stay closed except when adding or removing waste.
• Ensures satellite accumulation containers stay in their designated locations.

Pay

$17.84–$25.00 Hourly.

• Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
• Will climb stairs on a frequent basis.
• Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
• Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
• Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
• Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
• 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green is required.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
