First Student is hiring an experienced Auto Body Technician to repair and restore buses, vans, and other fleet vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicle body damage and determine the best repair method
- Straighten bent body panels and remove dents
- Repair or replace damaged sheet metal and body components
- Use hand tools, power tools, metal-forming equipment, plasma cutters, and welding equipment
- Remove, install, adjust, and align body panels and related components
- Repair locks, latches, glass, upholstery, and other body accessories as needed
- Prepare written repair estimates when requested
- Document labor, parts, materials, and completed repairs accurately on work orders
- Maintain vehicle security and safety while repairs are being completed
- Follow all shop safety, PPE, environmental, and waste-disposal procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and team-oriented work environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair certificate or at least five years of practical auto body repair experience
- ASE credentials preferred
- Experience operating welding, plasma-cutting, and standard auto body repair equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to accurately estimate repair time, parts, and materials
Work Environment
Most repairs are completed indoors in a working maintenance shop. The environment may include noise from hammers, air tools, welding equipment, and other shop machinery. Proper PPE and shop safety procedures must be followed at all times. Some lifting is required.
Pay
$35.00 per hour
This position may be considered safety-sensitive depending on location and may be subject to drug and alcohol testing. In Washington State, testing may include cannabis.
