About the role

The Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive proper care and treatment by providing essential data to doctors. Key responsibilities include preparing patients for eye examinations, conducting preliminary and ancillary tests, assisting doctors during exams, coordinating patient schedules, and maintaining a clean and organized office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for eye examinations by explaining preliminary testing procedures.
  • Perform all preliminary and doctor-requested tests on patients.
  • Absorb and assist optometrists and ophthalmologists with patient procedures.
  • Cover patient scheduling and manage patient flow within the office, communicating delays effectively.
  • Prep the exam room by cleaning instruments and managing inventory of medications and supplies.
  • Create a welcoming and safe environment for both patients and staff.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the office manager, team lead, or doctors.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
  • Standing for sustained periods of time, stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, and hearing are required.
  • Visual acuity necessary to ensure the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
