About the role
The Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive accurate and timely care. They are responsible for various administrative and clinical tasks, including preparing patients for exams, conducting tests, scheduling appointments, and assisting doctors during procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by explaining preliminary testing procedures.
- Perform all preliminary and doctor-requested tests on patients.
- Absorb and assist optometrists and ophthalmologists with patient procedures.
- Carefully coordinate patient scheduling and manage patient flow within the office, promptly addressing any delays.
- Ensure the exam room is prepared by cleaning instruments and managing supplies.
- Create a welcoming and organized environment for both patients and staff.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the office manager or team lead, and the doctors.
Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs. from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead.
- Standing for sustained periods of time, stooping, grasping, lifting, talking, and hearing are physical demands.
- Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
