Technician Assistant

About the role

VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center is hiring a full-time Technician Assistant to join their team. They are looking for an individual who is positive, energetic, eager to learn, and works well on a team.

Responsibilities

• Restraining animals for doctors and technicians
• Administering medications under the supervision of the technician
• Aiding in obtaining lab samples
• Running labs on in-house machines (including troubleshooting)
• Cleaning kennels and replacing bedding for hospitalized patients
• Offering food and water to hospitalized patients under the supervision of the technician
• Walking hospitalized patients under the supervision of the technician
• Assisting with sedated or anesthetized procedures as needed (setup and breakdown, cleaning, moving patients in and out of OR, etc.)
• Performing general cleaning duties inside and outside the hospital, including laundry, sweeping/mopping, restocking medical supplies, and maintaining medical equipment
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to effectively communicate in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working in a veterinary setting preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic computer skills

Pay

$18.00 - $19.00 / hr based on skill set and experience.

Schedule

Potential Schedule: full time: Sunday thru Tuesday Full time Wednesday thru Saturday
