About the role

Responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of electronic communication systems, with experience in VOIP, SIP, computer and networking systems. The Systems Technician ensures systems are installed and serviced efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize performance, and communicates system performance to the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Final hookup and programming of electronics equipment for new jobs.
  • Prompt response to customer service-related issues.
  • Testing and documentation of system readings for customer systems.
  • Updating customer files.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of electronic components.
  • Handling on-call duties on a regular scheduled basis.
  • Training and instructing customers on proper equipment use.
  • Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Operating test equipment: Volt Meter, Ohm Meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Multimeter, and Impedance Meter.
  • Assisting with preventive maintenance of customer equipment.
  • Accurate tracking of time sheets, service/installation tickets, and inventory items.
  • Full compliance with company and customer safety programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by company management.

Requirements

  • A two-year electronics degree or equivalent combination of education and 1–3 years of related field experience.
  • Working knowledge of communications systems.
  • Experience with VoIP, telephony, data networks, wireless data, fire alarm, CCTV, sound systems, or nurse call applications preferred.
  • Cisco and Microsoft certifications desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write at basic English proficiency and compute basic math functions.
  • Ability to read CAD-generated prints, building blueprints, and riser diagrams.
  • Solid grasp of basic electronics/electrical theory; formal instruction preferred.
  • Proficiency with PCs and aptitude in simple engineering and construction.
  • Some out-of-town travel may be required.
  • Valid and current driver’s license.

Qualifications

Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Electronics, IT, or Computer Programming; NSCA CEST Certification, NICET certification, RCDD, and factory training.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret general business documentation.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements

  • Required to stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands and fingers.
  • Light lifting of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment; occasional outdoor activities subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
