About the role
SHELLBACK is a company dedicated to providing semiconductor capital equipment in a way that values its customers. We serve traditional semiconductor fabs and emerging technologies, offering fully integrated equipment solutions. We are now seeking a Technical Writer to document our product manuals, manufacturing processes, and equipment operation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain technical manuals targeting both internal and external customers, including product descriptions, use and operation, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, register lists, engineering utilities, programmer’s hardware application interfaces, custom software applications, and custom hardware addendums.
- Capture technical information: collect verbal and written information from engineers and manufacturing/operation staff, including through photographs and recordings, and convert it into clear and concise written procedures.
- Create visual aids such as diagrams, charts, and other visual materials to complement the written content and enhance user understanding.
- Document manufacturing processes: develop detailed process documentation that clearly communicates concepts, ideas, and instructions to support manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: work closely with engineering, production, and product management teams to gather technical details and ensure accuracy.
Requirements
- Adobe FrameMaker experience
- Experience creating process documentation within a manufacturing environment, particularly in the semiconductor or high-tech industries
- Proficiency with technical writing tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and technical documents
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, or a related field
- 3+ years of technical writing experience in manufacturing, focusing on process documentation
- Proven ability to capture and document complex technical information through various media (notes, photos, recordings)
- Experience with technical illustrations and documentation standards is preferred
