Technical Training Designer
Responsibilities
The Technical Training Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining engaging technical training materials and eLearning courses focused on appliance repair. He/She will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), trainers, and multimedia specialists to produce content that supports technician development and customer service excellence.
Collaborate with SMEs to gather technical information and translate it into clear, structured, and engaging learning content. Design and develop instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and self-paced eLearning courses for appliance repair training. Create digital assets including interactive modules, simulations (hands on and in web-based trainings), instructor manuals, and knowledge checks using tools like Articulate 360 (i.e. Storyline, Rise) and Adobe Creative Suite. Develop assessments to measure learner retention, comprehension, and job performance readiness. Ensure training materials meet instructional design best practices, adult learning principles, and accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
Organize and manage content updates as appliance technologies evolve and new models are released. Analyze training needs and recommend appropriate learning solutions. Work cross-functionally with Product Support, Technical Support, and Field Service teams. Use project management tools to meet deadlines and manage multiple development cycles. Support LMS integration and course deployment as needed.
Requirements
- Four-Year College (Instructional Design, Education, Technical Communication, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience)
- 3-5 Years Experience (Developing technical training or eLearning content, ideally in appliance, HVAC, or similar mechanical/electrical service industries)
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.), Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Strong technical and analytical writing skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, concise language.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Understanding of instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) and adult learning theory.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management capabilities.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
