Description

The Technical Coordinator at Smurfit Westrock is responsible for planning, delivering, and overseeing technical training and qualification activities to ensure employees achieve certifications in a timely and compliant manner. This role partners with Operations Learning & Development and site leadership to design and execute onboarding and new-hire integration plans, tracks training effectiveness, develops and maintains site learning content, and supports talent acquisition efforts.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ownership and accountability with the ability to prioritize work, execute independently, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess proficiency gaps, determine appropriate interventions, and take action.
  • Ability to independently direct, coach, and evaluate employees while managing training and certification programs across multiple work areas.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze trends, measure effectiveness, communicate insights, and identify risks.
  • Experience leading technical training, facilitation, coaching, and/or on-the-job instruction in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience administering qualification or certification programs, including training plans, skill assessments, documentation, and audit readiness, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training record-keeping processes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate training data and generate routine metrics and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Forms) with the ability to create training materials and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Core Competencies: Ownership and accountability, strong judgment and problem-solving skills, ability to independently direct, coach, and evaluate employees, data-driven mindset, experience leading technical training, facilitation, coaching, and/or on-the-job instruction, experience administering qualification or certification programs, familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
