Technical Theater Instructor

About the role

Technical Theater Instructor leads classes for ages 10-18 in set, lighting, sound, costumes, makeup, and stage crew. Guides students in production skills, supports Mainstage shows, and provides safe, organized classroom and theater supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and leads specific activities, routines, and/or games for all participants.
• Leads with enthusiasm and positive motivation in program.
• Organizes and maintains program records including attendance records, rosters, etc.
• Manages all equipment and maintains a clean and risk-free environment.
• Communicates effectively and timely with program participants and parents.
• Ensures all children are picked up by a parent.
• Promotes other YMCA programs by handing out brochures, answering questions, or referral to appropriate person.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years of advanced experience in specialized skill (technical theater).
• Minimum of 4 years teaching specialized skill.
• Training and qualifications in the specialized instruction area.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of specialized skill.
• Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

• Ability to plan, lead, and participate in classes and activities.
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
