About the role
Responsible for planning and coordinating all maintenance and inspection activities on assigned rig. He or she must implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Manage maintenance priorities with overall rig operation priorities to maximize rig efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate topside maintenance activities with the Technical Section Leader, Drilling Section Leader, Rig Manager, and others on the rig.
- Advise others of modifications, changes to procedures and/or frequencies which will improve the Noble Maintenance System and be in compliance with the Management of Change System ("MOC") on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure all incomplete repairs and projects are finished within the scheduled time of completion to keep the backlog of work to a minimum.
- Assist with input and cost control measures to ensure annual maintenance costs are managed within the rig budget.
- Maintain, test, and repair all aspects of the rig's ballasting and related systems and controls to ensure they are in operable condition.
- Audit work permits, isolation tags, and logs to ensure accurate status of equipment.
- Complete and maintain accurate records to comply with regulations governing the rig's location.
- Support and train new maintenance crew members.
- Manage replacement parts and ensure proper documentation of unused materials.
- Participate in the development of new crew members.
- Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
- Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in expected results is observed.
- Perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations.
Qualifications
- Recognized trade qualification from technical college/apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.
- 2+ years of experience as a Hydraulic Technician, Mechanic, Electrician or Electronics Technician; and 1+ years of offshore DP3 drilling experience.
- Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.
- Superior troubleshooting skills and techniques.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach, motivate, and mentor others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to understand and interact with diverse groups and operations and to recognize and resolve conflict.
- Proficient in office applications and other systems required for the position.
Essential Functions

- Ensure all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
- Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
- Familiarize and adhere to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.
- Familiarize and utilize Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.
- Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
- Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.
- Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
- Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
- Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
