Technical Specialist
General Description
The purpose of this classification is to provide technical assistance to computer users.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate's degree, vocational technical degree, or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education related to position
- Two years of related experience
- Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education.
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience.
Essential Functions
- Provides assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems
- Answers user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.
- Sets up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software
- Installs, tests, configures, troubleshoots and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, network, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications
- Maintains records of inventory and service/repair activity
- Performs related work as assigned
Special License/Certification
- Valid driver's license
Special Requirements
- Requires the ability to work occasionally during weekend or evening hours
- May be subject to on-call duty
