About the role

This position assists the Manager of Technical Services and FSQA staff with document and program collection and accuracy. It involves completing customer requests for standard letters and questionnaires, assisting with specification creation, maintaining documents, tracking compliance, communicating metrics, and assisting with data collection.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all customer requests for each facility, including standard letters, audit requests, and questionnaires.
  • Assign tasks on SafetyChain related to item and packaging updates.
  • Create label submissions, track plant completion of verifications, and file all related documents in electronic systems.
  • Upload plant documents to SafetyChain and Smart Food Safe and communicate and manage completion of expired items.
  • Aid in specification building and training, tracking submissions and adherence on first case runs.
  • Recap plant quality defects and send weekly reports.
  • Track and maintain supplier compliance and documentation.
  • Create and provide reports of key metrics to internal stakeholders.
  • Aid with data collection including product quality, research, and shelf life.
  • Create users, groups, forms, and manage updates in Safetychain and Smart Food Safe.

Requirements

  • 2 years related experience and/or training.
  • Strong oral and written language skills.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Visio, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in data and inventory management systems, experience in SafetyChain preferred.
  • Knowledge of food science, meat and meat processing, quality assurance principles, USDA rules & regulations, and statistics desired.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Institutional Meat Purchase Specifications programs and FSIS labeling preferred.
  • Experience in meat or food industry preferred.
  • Able to work and make decisions on tasks independently.
  • Able to prioritize competing demands on time and resources.
  • Able to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Able to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the language of the majority cultural group.
  • Must be able to hear enough to understand individuals.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
  • Must be able to compute rate, discounts, ratios, and percent, and make, read, and interpret financials, graphs, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Must be able to apply common sense and judgment in solving problems and interpreting and understanding instructions.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action yet reason when to involve supervisor.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge with the ability to learn software.
  • Display strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal with frequent interruptions.
  • Basic office skills such as phone skills, voice mail, copying, faxing, typing.
  • Able to function independently given assigned duties.
  • Able to communicate, work, and interact with a variety of individuals.
