About the role
To provide efficient and timely technical assistance to assigned customers in matters relating to their packaging equipment operations and to facilitate customer quality and packaging performance improvement.
Responsibilities
- Possess a mechanical and electrical technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot most packaging machine issues.
- Occasionally requires management support to handle difficult issues.
- Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities.
- Serves customer equipment, where applicable, to maintain optimum performance of equipment, packaging films, and shrink bag materials.
- Identifies machinery and packaging film/shrink bag problems and ensures they are properly communicated to the appropriate staff representatives.
- Maintains accurate and timely reports on work activities and time utilization.
- Performs and completes package/shrink bag and machine audits on packaging machines.
- Participates in field trials of new packaging materials.
- Aids in the installation and start-up of all packaging equipment manufactured and sold by Amcor.
- Provides input, as requested, into the design, installation, and start-up of packaging equipment manufactured by outside suppliers or RE&D.
- Schedules own time and travel and determines priority of customer calls.
- Conducts training for customers on proper operation and maintenance of equipment and Amcor film.
- Aids on projects and may take the lead on smaller tasks within an overall project.
- Establishes and maintains effective relations with customers, sales personnel, and internal Amcor staff personnel.
- Completes KMS reporting within 5 days, completes expense reports within a month of business trip, and turns in weekly schedules within designated time frame.
Qualifications
- Education: Technical Degree
- Experience: 3-5 years experience in food packaging industry (material & machinery)
- Willing to travel 60% or more and holds a valid driver’s license
- Great verbal and written communication skills
