Powering the World's Best Endurance Athletes
At TrainingPeaks, we believe that behind every great athlete is a great coach and the right technology to help them reach their potential. Our platform is trusted by Tour de France winners, Olympic gold medalists, and everyday endurance athletes to plan, track, and analyze their training.
General Summary
We are looking for a hybrid SEO and AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) expert to help TrainingPeaks show up - and stand out - wherever athletes are searching for answers. That increasingly means not just ranking in traditional search, but being the source that AI assistants, voice search, and answer engines surface when someone asks "how do I build a marathon training plan" or "what's the best way to track cycling power."
Core Functions
- AI & Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
Develop and execute strategies to improve TrainingPeaks' presence in AI-generated answers, featured snippets, and knowledge panels across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and emerging platforms.
Audit and optimize structured data (schema.org markup) to make our content more machine-readable and citation-worthy.
Research how AI systems surface training and endurance content, and identify gaps where TrainingPeaks should be the authoritative source.
Partner with content and product teams to shape content for answer-engine discoverability — entity clarity, factual depth, and semantic structure. - Technical SEO
Conduct regular technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, and internal linking.
Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals and page experience signals in collaboration with engineering.
Manage XML sitemaps, robots.txt, canonical tags, hreflang, and redirect strategies.
Stay current on search algorithm updates and assess their impact on TrainingPeaks properties. - Analytics & Reporting
Own SEO/AEO performance reporting — building dashboards and delivering regular insights to marketing leadership and stakeholders.
Define and track KPIs across organic search, AI citation share, and answer-engine visibility.
Use tools like Google Search Console, GA4, Semrush/Ahrefs, and Looker Studio to surface actionable data.
Run A/B and multivariate tests to evaluate optimization hypotheses and report on outcomes. - Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with content, growth, and engineering teams to ensure SEO/AEO best practices are embedded in site builds, feature launches, and editorial workflows.
Contribute to a culture of search literacy across the marketing org — sharing learnings, writing playbooks, and mentoring teammates.
Requirements
- Required Qualifications:
3–5 years of hands-on SEO experience, with demonstrated knowledge of technical SEO fundamentals.
Emerging expertise or genuine curiosity in AEO — you've been paying attention to how AI systems surface content and you have a point of view on it.
Proficiency with core SEO tools (Google Search Console, Semrush or Ahrefs, Screaming Frog or similar).
Strong analytical skills — comfortable building reports in GA4, Looker Studio, or comparable BI tools.
Solid understanding of HTML, structured data / JSON-LD, and how search engines crawl and render pages.
Clear communicator who can translate technical findings into business impact for non-technical stakeholders.
Self-directed with strong organizational skills — you manage your own priorities and proactively flag issues. - Desired Qualifications:
Experience in a SaaS, health tech, or sports/fitness context.
Familiarity with Python or SQL for data analysis.
You're an endurance athlete yourself with experience using TrainingPeaks.
