The Optimus Technical Project Manager will be responsible for project management within the Optimus Manufacturing & Production sustaining team at the Tesla Factory in Fremont, CA. This includes managing technically oriented projects from initial scoping exercises through to implementation, as well as driving continuous improvement projects with cross functional teams to drive Key Performance Indicators through the life of the product on an aggressive ramp timeline. The Technical Project Manager will facilitate strong partnerships between cross-functional teams to develop a schedule for key deliverables, track their progress against these plans, and ensure projected goals against Key Performance Indicators are met with exceptional quality, performance and cost.

What You'll Do

  • Work cross functionally to identify bottlenecks, coordinate run at rate/burst builds, capacity analysis, create waterfall charts, and drive OEE improvements methodically through high impact projects, taking a data driven approach
  • Participate in and lead various cross-functional Program and Manufacturing Readiness forums
  • Provide concise and clear updates on status, action plans, and recovery plans as necessary at both working and executive level
  • Define and document engineering program goals, scope, and requirements in alignment with stakeholders to ensure shared understanding and success. Follow these initiatives with engineering and production teams from concept to completion
  • Manage scope, schedule changes, risks, and issues, developing mitigation and contingency plans to protect timelines, deliverables, and overall Optimus manufacturing program objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement using project management methodologies and processes, enhancing efficiency and outcomes for cross-functional engineering teams
  • Manage change control to ensure highest quality execution for sustained continuous improvement

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering management or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years experience in project management experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment, with experience launching new manufacturing lines to a high production rate and OEE
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience doing technical presentations in a concise manner to senior leadership and writing executive reports
  • Proven ability to rapidly grasp complex technical concepts
  • Able to work cross-functionally and manage large teams
  • Works well under pressure and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Able to adapt to changes quickly

Expected Compensation

$96,800 - $217,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
