About the role

We are looking for a Data Project Manager to own the creation, scaling, and maintenance of AI datasets that train Tesla’s Optimus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from planning to delivery through coordinating collection resources, troubleshooting and resolving bottlenecks, and making sure datasets meet requirements for AI development
  • Create and run regular data validation checks to catch errors or inconsistencies in the dataset. Fix issues fast and build processes to stop them from happening again
  • Optimize ways to collect more data, faster, without sacrificing quality
  • Automate repetitive tasks where it makes sense
  • Translate dashboards and metrics into plain English for stakeholders. Convey progress updates, what’s working, what’s not, and act upon those insights
  • Work with engineers, data collection operators, and more to communicate and prioritize data needs
  • Stay ahead of tools and trends in data collection. Propose and test out new technology and processes that could speed up workflows or improve dataset quality & diversity

Requirements

  • Experience managing data-heavy projects (AI/ML datasets, large-scale collection, or data pipelines)
  • Comfort with JIRA, Excel, Confluence. Bonus points for SQL, Python, or data viz tools
  • Ability to rally teams, manage chaos, and hit deadlines without burning out yourself or your teammates
  • Experience creating and maintaining dashboards that provide stakeholders with important insights
  • Able to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, or sensor data a plus

Pay

Expected Compensation $72,000 - $198,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
