Technical Project Manager

SGA is searching for a Technical Project Manager for a contract assignment with a premier Hospitality client in Orlando, FL (Hybrid).

About the Role

Provides leadership on multiple internal IT or business projects, including financial, scope, schedule, and risk management responsibilities. Creates and executes project work plans, revising them to meet changing needs while adhering to established project management processes and methodology. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of business projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals. Directs, manages, plans, and administers the operational and administrative activities of Information Technology and Business project teams. Works across multiple business areas to manage both IT and business deliverables. Participates in PMO process improvement initiatives and supports PM onboarding for new staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develops communication plans to provide continuous updates to project team members, customers, and sponsors regarding project status (25% time).
  • Identifies resources needed and collaborates with resource managers to assemble skilled teams (10% time).
  • Manages issues, risks, and changes using agreed-upon PMO processes and tools.
  • Determines project schedules, identifies critical paths, and mitigates potential risks. Applies delivery methodology and scheduling standards (15% time).
  • Leads project teams to maintain work plans and draft required deliverables.
  • Facilitates or participates in project reviews, retrospectives, audits, status reports, and Executive Review meetings (10% time).
  • Forecasts, manages, and reports on project financials, schedules, and resource utilization. Understands revenue models and cost-to-completion projections (15% time).
  • Manages funding documentation to meet finance and PMO requirements. Works with Strategic Sourcing and Contracts teams to prepare RFPs, MSAs, and SOWs (15% time).
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives and PMO onboarding activities (5% time).
  • Performs other duties as needed (5% time).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in a Project Management role with a background in team development.
  • 2+ years in an information technology capacity with understanding of technologies including applications, databases, networking, telecommunications, connectivity, security, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of project management life cycle and systems development lifecycle (Iterative, Agile, Waterfall).
  • Basic familiarity with Clarity or other Portfolio/Program Management Software.
  • Leadership capabilities, strong judgment, and ability to work effectively with clients, team members, management, and external groups.
  • Ability to understand business/client environments, systems, and technological alternatives.
  • General business acumen and excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of project management tools, techniques, and practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning abilities.
  • Ability to interact with senior management and lead teams through complex assignments.
  • Decision-making authority within project scope, schedule, and budget, with escalation to leadership as needed.
  • Full autonomy within approved project bounds; limited autonomy outside those bounds.

Project Scope

This role involves matrix supervisory responsibilities for project teams of 5–25 people, with no direct reports. Responsible for schedule, scope, and financial cost of assigned projects, which may range from several months to multiple years and up to a million dollars in budget. Projects vary in complexity, visibility, and business impact, including revenue and profit/expense implications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification and/or equivalent experience.
