Technical Program Manager III, Networking Engineer
About the role
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of physical network reference design programs by establishing charters, schedules, and performance metrics.
- Partner with internal Network Architecture and Engineering teams to co-architect and execute next-generation physical network designs.
- Optimize physical serverhall layouts, rack configurations, and cable routing pathways to maximize spatial efficiency and deployment velocity.
- Navigate complex physical constraints such as space, power, and cooling to ensure robust logical-to-physical network mapping.
- Apply technical domain knowledge of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber infrastructure to guide high-impact program decisions and resolve strategic bottlenecks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in program management.
- 5 years of experience in technical program management, managing network infrastructure, physical data center design, or hardware development programs.
- 5 years of experience with data centers, physical network infrastructure design, including Inside Plant (ISP), Outside Plant (OSP), and structured cabling systems.
- 5 years of experience with cluster networking, including network topology and fiber connectivity.
- 5 years of experience driving cross-functional alignment and managing technical dependencies across engineering, operations, and product teams.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience planning for the strategic evolution and scalability of physical network spaces to support high-throughput architectures and AI/ML workloads.
- Expertise in serverhall spatial optimization, rack planning, and managing thermal, power, and physical routing constraints in high-density environments.
- Strong technical judgment with a track record of defining long-term roadmaps and presenting complex program strategies to leadership.
- Ability to collaborate with network architects to translate complex logical topologies into scalable physical engineering designs.
Skills
- Technical domain knowledge of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber infrastructure.
- Collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional partners.
- Project management experience.
- Technical expertise in network infrastructure design and optimization.
