About the role

The Technical Program Manager II at Switch is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of data center construction programs from early planning through commissioning and operational handover. This role ensures that hyperscale facilities are delivered on schedule, within scope, and aligned with Switch standards. Key responsibilities include managing the full lifecycle of construction programs, developing and maintaining detailed project schedules, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing risk, driving execution, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of hyperscale data center construction programs, including pre-construction, design coordination, procurement tracking, construction, commissioning support, and operations handover.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and execution plans.
  • Track scope, schedule, and cost performance against commitments.
  • Lead risk identification and maintain program risk registers.
  • Own mitigation plans and track risk resolution through project completion.
  • Manage change control processes, including evaluation of change orders and scope impacts.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and design intent for alignment and constructability.
  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, field changes, and design clarifications.
  • Partner with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable codes.
  • Maintain dashboards and weekly reporting for leadership.
  • Highlight key risks, issues, and required decisions in executive updates.
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination meetings and drive alignment.
  • Support punch-list completion and contractual closeout requirements.

Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • Required: 3–6 years of experience managing construction projects.
  • Required: Experience managing projects from pre-construction through handover.
  • Required: Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Required: Understanding of construction sequencing and field execution.
  • Preferred: Experience in data center or mission-critical construction environments.
  • Preferred: Experience in hyperscale or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with commissioning and integrated systems testing.
  • Preferred: PMP certification.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both technical and executive.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Experience balancing technical detail with program-level oversight.

Skills

  • Project management software proficiency (MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, Smartsheet).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
