About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager or Release Engineer with experience delivering consumer-facing software and mobile applications, particularly within the Android ecosystem. This role requires deep cross-functional leadership to align engineering, hardware, QA, product, compliance, and external OEM teams throughout the release lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end software release management, from branch cut through deployment, staged rollouts, and post-launch monitoring.
- Drive daily coordination across Engineering, QA, Product, Hardware, Compliance, and external OEM partners to align timelines, scope, and release goals.
- Maintain the release calendar, schedule deployment windows across internal, staging, and production environments, and manage risk and calendar conflicts.
- Chair production readiness reviews and Go/No-Go meetings, evaluating open bugs, test coverage, and legal/compliance requirements before authorizing production pushes.
- Execute phased production rollouts while monitoring real-time crash rates, system stability, and performance metrics.
- Identify and resolve technical or schedule disconnects early, clearing blockers and securing necessary tools and headcount.
- Build real-time progress dashboards and host post-release retrospectives to optimize future release cycles.
- Oversee basic Android build processes (e.g., APK/AAB generation, versioning, release configurations) to validate release candidate packages.
Requirements
- Experience in Technical Program Management or Release Engineering for consumer-facing software and mobile applications.
- Hands-on experience managing release calendars, leading Go/No-Go reviews, and executing phased production rollouts.
- Working knowledge of the Android build process (e.g., build artifacts, semantic versioning, CI/CD pipelines).
- Proficiency with real-time dashboards and crash reporting tools (e.g., Crashlytics, Play Console, or custom telemetry platforms).
- Strong leadership presence with data-driven confidence to approve, delay, or halt releases to protect product quality.
- Experience managing software/hardware release cycles in the automotive, Android Automotive OS (AAOS), or OEM ecosystem is a plus.
- Deep familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and modern CI/CD release automation tools.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
