Technical Product Support, MaxiDrill & Reclamation Products - American Augers

About the role
As a Technical Product Support Specialist for MaxiDrills and Reclamation, you will provide technical support, gather field information, and deliver technical training on American Augers, Warlock Products, and Ditch Witch equipment. You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems; resolve customer issues; manage warranty claims; and communicate customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with dealers, customers, and factory personnel.
- Analyze technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic drawings to understand equipment systems.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems to resolve issues.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems using gauges, meters, and performance testing.
- Communicate field problems and suggested solutions for resolution.
- Create and maintain records, including warranty claims and equipment issues.
- Repair and implement upgrades to equipment.
- Develop, distribute, and present technical and training information using PCs.
- Gather, organize, and communicate technical information to groups.
Work Environment
- Handle and position components weighing over 50 pounds.
- Regular, extended use of telephone, PC, tablet, and smartphone.
- Primarily office-based, with occasional shop or outdoor work environments.
- Shop and outdoor environments include physical hazards such as powered vehicles, sharp objects, moving machinery, and unimproved terrain.
- Work in tight quarters, under or on top of heavy construction equipment, and in awkward positions.
- Use hand and power tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, cutting torches, welders, and impact tools.
- Work with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, and fuels.
- Occasional domestic and international travel (air and highway).
- Rapidly changing demands, schedules, and deadlines; workday often defined by customer requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 1-5 years of relevant American Augers, Ditch Witch, or related experience.
- Technical Product Support I: 1-5 years of experience in sales and marketing; ability to operate and demonstrate heavy construction equipment in field or dynamic construction site conditions.
- Technical Product Support II: 5-10 years of experience in training or equivalent skills; high-level technical expertise in the underground industry; strong instructor-led traits, customer service, and people skills.
- Technical Product Support III: 10+ years of American Augers or Ditch Witch experience; demonstrated success in team-building, complex problem-solving, and product demonstration.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems using blueprints, schematics, manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Intermediate electrical/electronic experience, knowledge, and skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including presenting technical information to groups and individuals.
- Strong correspondence, record-keeping, and computer/information technology skills.
- Self-motivated, high productivity, reliability, and a cooperative personality.
- Willingness to work overtime or travel on short notice, including weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, engineering, or a related field.
- Generator/AC Systems (480V) experience.
- HVAC knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP.
