Technical Product Support Engineer

About the role
This role requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. You will interpret internal or external business issues and recommend best practices, solve complex problems with a broad perspective, and work independently with guidance only in the most complex situations. You may lead functional teams or projects.
Responsibilities
- Participate in new product introductions and early learning shipments, resolution of critical long-term customer issues with upper management, and identifying special projects for successful implementation and completion.
- Provide third-level escalation for Hardware & Software (stability) issues and drive Failure Analysis to identify long-term technical issues, resolution plans, and design corrections.
- Support Alpha and Beta sites for installation, operation, calibration, service, and testing of new hardware, processes, or software designs.
- Initiate and review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to ensure data supports fixes and communicate with the field, including technical dialogue with customers during escalations or availability requests.
- Generate and present system performance data, including metrics such as MTBF, MTBI, and Availability, as well as process data and I/W spending analysis.
- Support the generation of documentation such as Customer Engineering Notifications (CENs) and Best Known Methods (BKMs). Create and review documentation covering technical improvements, system upgrades, and support plans.
- Present at the customer level and ensure field implementation of solutions.
- Organize and manage on-site training for early learning shipments and new product introductions for both internal and external engineers.
- Enhance local team product technical knowledge through frequent knowledge transfer from the Business Unit (BU) to the account.
- Provide lifecycle ownership for released products by implementing hardware changes to resolve design issues or manage component obsolescence, and diagnose, fix, and validate firmware bugs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or higher.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience.
- Up to 25% domestic travel.
Skills
- Demonstrated expertise in RF systems (Hardware and Firmware).
- Ability to troubleshoot to the component level.
- Experience performing data analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar utilities.
- Experience in firmware/software test development using Robot Framework or Pytest.
- Knowledge of C/C++ development for embedded firmware design (with RTOS).
- Skilled in Python script development.
- Knowledge of industrial communication standards such as EtherCAT (a plus).
- Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
- Strong presentation skills for both internal and external customers.
- Leadership of functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
- Ambitious, motivated, and able to work efficiently without needing supervision.
- Sophisticated analytical thought to solve complex problems and identify innovative solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate differing viewpoints.

Pay
Salary range: $116,000.00 – $159,500.00. The salary offered will be based on factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. For sales roles, this range represents the Target Total Cash (TTC) at 100% goal achievement.
