About the role
This role serves as a critical bridge between product strategy and engineering execution. It entails largely product management (roadmap, backlog, strategy), but also technical leadership (managing mobile app contractors, ensuring technical excellence, and reviewing code/PRs). In this position, your time will be split approximately 70% on Product Management and 30% on Engineering/Technical Leadership.
Responsibilities
- Roadmap Definition: Own, define, and execute the mobile app roadmap for both iOS and Android.
- User & Product Research: Conduct research to understand customer pain points and translate them into features.
- Contractor Management: Lead and manage a remote/distributed team of iOS and Android contract engineers, including sprints and stand-ups.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, hardware engineering, and customer support for seamless integration.
- Technical Architecture: Define and oversee the mobile architecture, ensuring scalability and security.
- Code Quality & Excellence: Establish best practices, review architectural decisions, and perform code reviews.
- API Integration: Guide integration with backend APIs, connected IoT devices, and third-party services.
- Operational Responsibilities: Manage mobile app stores and release processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in product management, with 3+ years in mobile applications.
- Strong technical background; experience building mobile apps (Swift, Kotlin, React Native, or Flutter) preferred.
- Must be located in or willing to commute to Mooresville, NC.
- Proven track record managing contract or distributed engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of mobile UX/UI, agile methodologies, and a customer-first mindset.
