The Opportunity
Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Manager in the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) group. The Technical Manager will provide functional and project leadership of a transmission line engineering team consisting of engineers, designers, and technicians. The Technical Manager will support T&D projects as a lead engineer and work closely with other engineering departments and corporate business units. What You'll Do
- Project Technical Lead
- Makes and leads all engineering activities during the proposal, design and construction stages of transmission line projects that are assigned.
- Provides project oversight, including managing engineering scope according to contracts, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules.
- Directs and coordinates activities of multiple disciplines on a major project or group of large-scale projects.
- Maintains high levels of quality to meet internal and external client requirements in alignment with company expectations.
- Oversees design activities of T&D team members.
- Reviews project deliverables, including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports.
- Management Responsibilities
- Provides strategic direction, leadership, and technical oversight to ensure the team meets individual, department, and organizational performance goals.
- Coaches, mentors, and develops engineering staff to foster their professional growth and development.
- Oversees team resource planning, performance management, and ongoing training to support team members' professional advancement.
- Takes responsibility for financial management of the team, including developing annual budgets, monthly forecasting, and ensuring successful execution of financial goals.
- Business Development Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Sales team and engineers across the organization to drive revenue growth and expand services with both existing and potential clients.
- Supports proposal development by providing resources, creating content, and reviewing proposals.
- Fosters and maintains strong, positive relationships with existing clients to ensure continued satisfaction and engagement.
What We Expect From You
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required from ABET accredited university or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Transmission Line design required.
- Experience in consulting engineering is preferred.
- PE registration is required.
- Prior management experience preferred.
- Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public and external agencies.
- Possesses a high level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timeliness.
- Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills.
- Displays a high level of initiative and explores new opportunities while understanding the risk to the organization.
- Experienced with PLS-CADD and able to train new users.
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access).
- Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.
Additional Opportunity Details
- Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $141,800 - $184,400.
- Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job-specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role.
