Responsibilities

Oversee the successful execution of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
Develop new client relationships and navigate the contract cycles of new clients.
Hire and train employees on new client systems and drive regional revenue growth.
Provide consultation with clients and prospective clients to identify potential power distribution needs.
Perform system studies and detailed engineering in the planning of power distribution projects.
Develop business with new and existing clients and manage client relationships.
Establish project-specific scope of services and fees for leadership and client approval.
Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large projects or engineering programs.
Supervise technical teams to produce instruments of design, calculations, plans, and specifications.
Conduct research in areas related to power generation and power delivery systems.
Serve as a staff specialist, applying advanced theories and concepts.
Assist or lead the development of proposals, negotiations, and presentations.
Collaborate with internal departments for client relationship development.
Manage work routines and assign job activities.
Attend project team meetings and provide task performance reports.
Coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants.
Provide technical oversight and guidance, serving as task manager of select projects.
Mentor and train staff, ensuring compliance with all KCI policies and procedures.
Ensure projects comply with ISO standards.
Conduct employee performance appraisals, when applicable.
Develop professional relationships through active participation in industry associations and community involvement.
Identify and assist in attracting talent to KCI.
Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting project scope.
Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters.
Assist with receivables management and actively manage project budgets.
Achieve or exceed individual utilization targets.
Conduct site visits and gather data as necessary.
Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Review and approve shop drawings.
Compare field data to base plan and prepare preliminary concept designs.
Read and interpret technical documents.

Requirements

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in electrical distribution design industry.
Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring engineering projects.
Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.
Experience leading a team of project managers and designers.
Project Management experience required, with experience in managing and growing a design team.
Experience in developing and managing project managers.
Experience managing client expectations and developing business.
Proposal preparation including scope, schedule, and fee.
Contract management and billing.
Strong design knowledge in electrical distribution.
Prepare written technical proposals, assemble teams to meet client criteria, and develop professional relationships.
Demonstrated leadership with a broad knowledge of the processes required to develop design packages utilizing utility design standards.
Ability to train and develop staff.
Local client contacts and the ability to bring in business.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
Master’s Degree in engineering or MBA preferred.
