About the role
This opportunity resides with Uncrewed Systems (UxS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Uncrewed Systems comprises unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and autonomy software.
Responsibilities
- Work with engineering leadership, program management, and the customer to ensure product designs are aligned with the program technical vision and meet all requirements.
- Manage the technical baseline of product within the program, support technical planning, and ensure projects remain within budget and schedule.
- Establish product development approach for development projects, with emphasis on quality, robustness, and reliability.
- Resolve cross-discipline technical issues.
- Provide dotted-line supervision of program technical personnel involved in the design and development of complex systems.
- Act as the program technical focal point of contact with internal and external customers.
- Participate in reviews to support reporting of technical, cost, and schedule progress.
- Support Program and Project Managers in the creation and maintenance of development and production plans and schedules.
- Act as a mentor to engineering team members on the program.
- Support continuous improvement through adherence to and improvement of CMMI development processes.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance.
- 8 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 12 years relevant progressive experience.
Qualifications
- Experience establishing strategy for technical product development with emphasis on multidisciplinary systems (mechanical, electrical, software, etc.)
- Experience as project leader/manager including supervision of technical personnel involved in the design and development of complex systems
- Background with marine systems, robotics, and development/integration of products
- Demonstrated project management skills, including earned value and risk management
- Demonstrated excellent customer interfacing and presentation skills
- Highly skilled providing technical briefings to internal/external customers and company leadership
- Working experience leading technical definition and change proposal development
- Experience identifying program risks and developing mitigation plans
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience with Defense contracting environments
- Some travel is associated with this role to support customer meetings and/or provide technical support.

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $155,689.00 - $195,000.00.
