Castalia Systems is supporting a U.S. Government customer to provide onsite incident response to civilian Government agencies and critical asset owners who experience cyber-attacks, offering immediate investigation and resolution. Contract personnel perform investigations to characterize breach severity, develop mitigation plans, and assist with service restoration.

About the role

Castalia is seeking a Technical Engagement Network (TEN) Lab Manager with Linux, Splunk, and Ansible system administration experience to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities in the customer environment, aiding analysts and ensuring business continuity of the customer mission.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Linux Systems Administrator overseeing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments across development, lab, and production systems.
  • Perform large-scale configuration management and deployment across Windows, macOS, Linux/Unix, and other operating systems and virtual environments to support the TEN infrastructure.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and equipment in the lab environment.
  • Provide ongoing systems administration, technical support, upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting services.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and workflows to automate application deployment and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform for large-scale provisioning, configuration management, and compliance enforcement.
  • Administer and maintain Splunk Enterprise/Splunk Cloud for system monitoring, security analytics, and operational intelligence.
  • Implement and monitor security controls, including STIG compliance, access management, and audit configurations for Linux and Splunk systems.
  • Develop dashboards and alerts in Splunk for proactive system health, performance, and security event monitoring.
  • Implement granular access control, monitor systems for acceptable performance and user accessibility, establish backups, and monitor systems security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage problems across the enterprise related to storage and replication strategies across local and wide area networks.
  • Monitor channels for storage-related network and system issues and remediate them as they occur.
  • Identify efficiencies in existing procedures, with customer approval.
  • Manage assigned project components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Advise and provide insight on the development of lab standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  • Employ security concepts, theories, tools, and methodologies to mitigate system weaknesses and vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with Secret clearance and the ability to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related degree, or HS Diploma and 7+ years of lab management or systems administration experience.
  • 5+ years of directly relevant experience as a Linux System Administrator.
  • 3+ years of experience with Splunk Enterprise administration and log ingestion.
  • 3+ years of experience with Ansible automation (Ansible Core or Ansible Tower/AAP).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across physical locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience writing technical procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Virtualization automation and optimization.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems including Linux/Unix, Windows, and macOS.
  • DoD 8140.01 IAT Level II certification.

Work Environment

Normal office environment. Occasional travel may be required.

All regularly scheduled employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible to participate in Castalia Systems’ benefit programs. Individuals working fewer than 30 hours per week are eligible for select offerings, excluding health benefits.

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $124,100.00 to $131,400.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by factors including location, position knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, and contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
