About the role
The Wheeling Nailers are expanding their game day broadcast and are looking to hire an experienced broadcast technical director for the 2026-2027 home season.
Responsibilities
- Operate the switcher for both broadcast and in-arena promotions
- Direct cameras to assist with promotions as needed
- Read over and comprehend game scripts to discern when shots are needed during a game and when specific events are occurring
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of signal flow, broadcast engineering, and leadership
- Basic understanding of professional ice hockey, with willingness to continue learning (rules, key players/games, strategy, and current hockey broadcast trends and best practices)
- Firm technical understanding of production fundamentals
- Ability and drive to be a leader amongst production staff
- Working knowledge of TriCaster and Newtek Control Board
- Minimum 1 or more years of videography/production experience or in a related media field
- Strong computer and technical skills
- Ability to solve problems independently
Preferred qualifications
- Previous work in television/livestreaming broadcasts
- Previous work in or around hockey
- Experience in content creation and use of editing software (Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Blender, etc.)
Must work playoffs April-June unless excused by supervisor. The Wheeling Nailers may require an employee to perform duties outside his/her normal description.
