Technical Director

About the role

PRG is the world’s leading technology provider within the entertainment and events industry, delivering unforgettable events through production and rental expertise. This role involves planning and executing theatrical productions and live events, with considerable client contact to tailor project services to the client’s vision. The Project Manager may participate in sales, determine product specifications, and provide design support. Responsibilities include managing budgets up to $4 million, consulting on aesthetic and technical issues, and overseeing on-site production and labor.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and define scope of work with clients, including budget, project schedule, workflow, resource requirements, and concept designs.
• Consult with and troubleshoot client’s unresolved aesthetic design and technology issues.
• Execute on-site production and manage show labor as required; ensure timely and accurate submission of new hire paperwork and timesheets.
• Balance client’s creative needs with company profitability.
• Collaborate with Sales to generate and amend quotes and interface with financial operations for client billing.
• Interface with operations departments to ensure design and quality goals are met.
• Identify and explore future revenue opportunities with clients; promote new sales opportunities through networking.
• Communicate project status and performance as assigned.
• Promote job site safety and investigate safety and reliability concerns.
• Plan and build labor calls in conjunction with Labor Coordinators.
• Manage PRG’s Change Order Policy with clients.
• Participate in client presentations as required.
• Supervise fabrication and manage administrative and financial performance of productions in collaboration with Scenic Sales and Operations.
• Travel up to 50%, including international travel, may be required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Scenic or Automation Project Management.
• Experience managing crews, budgets, and deadlines.
• OSHA 30 card preferred.
• Valid Passport and Driver’s License required.
• Recommended college or higher education degree with a concentration in scenic and automation fabrication and production for the entertainment industry.
• Must be able to remain stationary, bend, climb stairs, and stand or walk for 50% of the time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with normal hearing and vision ranges for conversations and document inspection.

• Expertise in budget management, vendor management, client communication, and conflict resolution.
• General understanding of labor and safety requirements.
• Ability to lead and work well with a team.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and asset management systems.
