Technical Designer - Retail Rollout

About the Role

As a Gensler Technical Designer with our dynamic Tampa team, you will combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You will collaborate with teammates to develop design solutions and coordinate design through the construction documentation and construction administration phases of core and shell and interior architecture projects. Your ability to translate sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images, along with your research skills for artistic and technical issues, will drive success. Responsibilities

• Collaborate on base building, interior architecture, and interior design projects, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and management of budgets and schedules.
• Coordinate with Interior Designers, Project Architects, and Project Managers to deliver project milestones.
• Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts.
• Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, consultants, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives.
• Produce graphic presentations, including 3D renderings and construction drawings.
• Contribute to the production of plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
• Provide technical support and documentation during all phases of project work.
• Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.
• Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Interior Architecture from an accredited program.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success in retail rollout.
• Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD + 3-D, Enscape, VRay, Grasshopper, Rhino, or other visualization software.
• Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or SPEXX is a plus.
• Hand rendering skills to communicate design concepts are a plus.
• Knowledge of the design process, including FF+E, furniture systems and specifications, color, and materials.
• Strong visualization skills, design sensibility, and conceptual 3-dimensional thinking to effectively communicate design ideas.
• Ability to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
• Strong communication of design ideas and direction.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment as a quick learner.
• Excellent organization, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices; portfolios should ideally include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification).

Pay

Annual base salary range is established based on local markets.

This role is not remote or hybrid; it requires working in our Tampa office.
